THE DANCE ARTIST BIOS

Paige Amicon is a dance artist and teacher originally hailing from Glenmoore,Pennsylvania. She attends University of North Carolina School of the Arts under Susan Jaffe pursuing a BFA in Contemporary Dance. She also holds a high school degree from UNCSA with a concentration in ballet. Her performance experience includes Twyla Tharp at the Kennedy Center and Durham Performing Arts Center in addition to works by Lucinda Childs, Merce Cunningham, José Limón, Ethan Stiefel, Ming-Lung Yang, Beth Gill and Brenda Daniels. Paige has also had the opportunity to teach and choreograph on young 

dancers at the Chester Valley Dance Academy (PA).

 

Elizabeth Barnhouse is a dancer/choreographer currently in her fourth year at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts under the direction of Dean Susan Jaffe. She began her dance training at CC and Company Dance Complex under director Christy Curtis, where she received training in jazz, hip-hop, ballet, and tap. She then attended UNCSA’s high school program, where she graduated with a concentration in contemporary dance before returning to continue training in UNCSA’s college program. Since then, she has been given the opportunity to perform pieces by members of the Random Dance Company, Cara Hagen, Ashley Lindsey, Brenda Daniels, Ming-Lung Yang and José Limon.  In addition, she has teaching experience with the Town of Cary and CC and Company. She is thankful for the opportunities given to her at UNCSA and looks forward to choreographing and performing with her fellow classmates this spring as part of the Pluck Project.

 

Kimberly Fulmer is a dance artist originated from Frisco, TX. She is currently a fourth year Contemporary dance major at The University of North Carolina School of the Arts under the direction of Susan Jaffe. She began dancing at age eight when she started her training with Michelle Stafford. Recently, Ms. Fulmer traveled to Taipei, Taiwan as an apprentice with the company Dance Forum 

Taipei under the direction of Ping Heng. While there, she studied under choreographer Ming- Lung Yang on the creation of a new work. Since coming to UNCSA she has attended a workshop by Trey McIntyre as well as performed in works choreographed by Merce Cunningham, Jose Limon, Brenda Daniels, Helen Simoneau, Ming-Lung Yang, Emery LeCrone, and Juel D. Lane.

 

Dominica Greene is a senior majoring in contemporary dance at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) under the direction of Susan Jaffe.  She was born and raised in Claremont, California, where she began her dance training at the age of four at Village Dance Arts.  For many years, her main concentrations were tap and ballet, training yearly for the Royal Academy of Dance vocational exams, completing and excelling all the way to the advanced level.  At 14, Dominica was fortunate enough to be accepted into the exceptional school that is the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA). Studying at LACHSA for all four years of high school, she received exemplary training in Horton, Dunham, Jazz, Graham, contemporary ballet, and pointe, and had the pleasure of learning and performing well-known works by Jiří Kylián. It was through LACHSA that Dominica auditioned for the National YoungArts Foundation and was awarded an Honorable Mention in Modern Dance at the age of 17. She has attended dance intensives every summer to further her training, two of her favorites being BODYTRAFFIC and the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance. Now 21 years old, Dominica has performed in works by Julie Schulma, Emery LeCrone, Josè Limón, Merce Cunningham, Brenda Daniels, Daniel Gwirtzman, Lucinda Childs, Susan McCullough, Ohad Naharin, Robert Moses, Twyla Tharp, and Helen Simoneau.

 

Emily Ester Hart is a dancer, performing artist, and choreographer fromCharleston, South Carolina. She is currently pursuing a B.F.A in Dance with a Contemporary Concentration at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) with Dean Susan Jaffe. Emily’s professional credits include UNCSA’s Cirkus Theatre Project (broadcast on UNC-TV) and performances with the Winston-Salem Festival Ballet. While in college, Emily has had the privilege of performing repertoire from choreographers such as Bill T. Jones, José Limón, Lucinda Childs, Helen Simoneau, Daniel Gwirtzman, Robert Lindgren, Ming-Lung Yang, Brenda Daniels, Jim Cooney, Wes Veldink, Emily Greenwell, Casey Noblett, and Ranko Bogosavac. During 2015, Emily made her New York City debut at Symphony Space with the Broadway Dance Center Summer Professional Semester and studied abroad at the Movement Laboratory Taipei in Taiwan and at the 20th Annual Kyoto International Dance Workshop Festival. In 2015, Emily also performed in UNCSA’s 50th Anniversary production of Guys & Dolls, choreographed by Edie Cowan and Matt Loehr, and directed by Gus Kaikkonen. In 2014, Emily participated in a workshop with Trey McIntyre and performed at the American Dance Festival (ADF) in 2013, where she had a featured role in “Love-Re-Defined” by Bill T. Jones (re-staged by Leah Cox). Emily has studied and performed with the Charleston County School of the Arts (SOA), the Charleston Dance Project, the Charleston Dance Project II, the Charleston Youth Company, Dancefx Charleston, and Piccolo Spoleto. Other styles Emily has trained in/performed include Modern, Ballet, Hip Hop, Swing, Musical Theatre, Jazz, Street Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, Ballroom, and Contradance as well as voice and acting (playing leading and supporting roles). Emily was awarded an Artist-in-Residency at the Charleston County School of the Arts (SOA) as a guest teacher and choreographer in 2014-2015. Emily has been the recipient of multiple scholarships through UNCSA, the ADF, SOA, and the Distinguished Young Women program. She feels passionate about fitness and holds a personal trainer certification through the World Instructor Training Schools (W.I.T.S) and a Basic Steps 1 Zumba Fitness Instructor License. Emily is grateful to her family, friends, and instructors for their continued encouragement and support.

 

Alvarez Delgado Jones, born and raised in Greensboro, NC, began histechnical dance training at Greensboro Dance Theatre and Greensboro Ballet during his senior year of high school. From ages 9 to 17, he performed in many musicals with the Community Theatre of Greensboro such as The Wizard of Oz, Footloose, High School Musical, High School Musical Two, and Hairspray, under the direction of Mitchel Sommers. He was also a dedicated member of the 102 Jamz Hip-Hop Dance Team where he shared the stage with many performing artists. After graduating high school, Alvarez first attended North Carolina A&T State University, studying professional theatre. He then transferred to the 

University of North Carolina School of the Arts where he furthered his study of Contemporary Dance under Dean Susan Jaffe and Brenda Daniels. Jones has studied many techniques, such as Cunningham, Límon, Alexander, and Ballet. He has performed the works of well-known companies such as the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, Shen Wei Dance Arts, Lucinda Childs, Merce Cunningham, Twyla Tharp and Jose Limon. This past summer, he participated in the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company summer intensive, choreographed on students at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, instructed summer workshops at local studios, and finally, received an internship with UNCSA Alumni and Katy Perry’s dance captain, Cassidy Noblett. He would like to thank the many instructors, family, and friends who helped to mold him into the artist he is today.

Jacob Kruty is a twenty-one year old dancer-choreographer from Bucks County Pennsylvania. Jacob started acting at a young age and it was through his acting training that he found his way to dance. After beginning his ballet training at Spirit in Motion Ballet Theater, Jacob attended Interlochen Arts Academy as a senior from 2011-2012. Following graduation, he started his BFA training at University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Since beginning college, Jacob has had the privilege to work with the likes of Emery LeCrone, Helen Simoneau, Brenda Daniels, Alex Ketley, Summer Rhatigan, Ming Yang, and Juel Lane. Jacob has attended summer workshops at Hubbard Street, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, and the Cunningham studios.

 

Krystal Mackie (Brooklyn, NY) began her training at Creative Outlet DanceTheater of Brooklyn. Ms. Mackie attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts and is currently a Contemporary Dance major at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts under the direction of Susan Jaffe. She has also trained at Movement Invention Project, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Dance Theater of Harlem, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, and Ballet Hispanico to name a few. Krystal has had the honor to perform works by Jamel Gaines, Kerri Edge, Stephanie Guiland-Brown, Loni Landon, Roger C. Jeffery, Bahiyah Sayyed Hibah, Jeffrey Page, Emery LeCrone, Lucinda Childs, Twyla Tharp, George Faison, and Juel Lane. In 2013-2014 she had the opportunity to choreograph for the National Football League to promote women officials. She also spent a summer with Camille A. Brown & Dancers as an apprentice in 2014. Ms. Mackie recently performed in The Wiz: A Celebration in Dance and Music, Summerstage 2015, choreographed by George Faison.

 

Kate McFalls grew up in Winston-Salem North Carolina and studies at TheUniversity of North Carolina School of The Arts. She attended UNCSA in high school and is a rising college sophomore contemporary dance major and will graduate early as a junior. Her biggest goal in life is to become a successful self-sufficient dancer and share the gift of dance with the world. She is a strong advocate for using dance and fitness as a release of life’s everyday challenges. She believes that working hard brings good health and good health brings happiness!

 

Abigail Ray-Davidson is a dancer, teacher and choreographer from Burlington, NC. She is currently a senior working towards her BFA degree in Contemporary dance at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, under the direction 

of Susan Jaffe. Abigail has had the pleasure of performing original works by Patricia Casey, Brenda Daniels, worked in collaboration with Wayne McGregor Random Dance Company and has performed the works of Merce Cunningham and Twyla Tharp. She has studied the techniques of Cunningham, Limón, Graham, Release, Cecchetti and Vaganova. Abigail has also taken various hip-

hop, swing, broadway and jazz classes over the years. She has taught at various studios in Burlington, NC and began teaching in the UNCSA Preparatory Program during the school year of 2015-2016. Abigail has choreographed pieces at Arts Evangelica in High Point, NC Arts Alive Fine Arts Studio and Burlington Dance Center in Burlington, NC.

 

Matt Sands is currently pursuing a BFA at University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Contemporary Dance. He has traveled to New York City and studied with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre and performed “A piece of a part” under the direction of Stefanie Batten Bland. He also has worked with the Cunningham Trust through the guidance of Patricia Lent. He has worked with 

Brenda Daniels, Sean Sullivan, Trish Casey, Catherine Miller, Juel Lane, Abigail Yager, Ming Yang, Laura Martin, Musha Tchoupakov, Chris Martin, Frank Smith, Fanchon Cordell, and Jared Reddick in his formal dance training at UNCSA. He also has performed many original choreographic works under the direction of various guest choreographers and faculties. After he receives his BFA, Matt 

plans to audition for a touring company where he can continue to explore his passion for dance.

 

Jared (Jay-Nate) Smith was born in Winston-Salem, NC and grew up being fascinated by Michael Jackson’s smooth moves on the dance floor. During his senior year of high school, he decided to give up his passion for basketball and immediately put his focus towards dance.  Even though Jared was a late bloomer in the world of dance training, he was accepted into the University of 

North Carolina School of the Arts and began working hard to improve his technique. He studied under, Brenda Daniels, Trish Casey, Sean Sullivan, Ming Yang, Abby Yager and performed works by Brenda Daniels, Juel D. Lane, Helen Simoneau and was the Mouse King in Ethan Stiefel’s “The Nutcracker.” He has also been grated the opportunity to work with Chuck Maldonado, a renowned 

artistic director and choreographer based out of Los Angeles. In 2014, Jared received a scholarship from the Semen’s Art Fund to travel to New York City for the first time to strengthen his abilities in both hip-hop and ballet. While training in Broadway Dance Center’s Summer Professional Semester, he was given the opportunity to dance in front of companies, agents and a few choreographers 

that had inspired him on YouTube and that he has always aspired to meet. Jared’s drive for success and the exposure that Broadway Dance Center offered connected him with two talent agents that want to sign him in the near future. After graduation, he looks forward to moving to L.A to build up his movement quality, enhance his choreographic style, and book an immense job that will start 

his professional career as a commercial industry dancer.

 

Savannah Spratt is a senior in pursuit of her BFA in Contemporary Dance atthe University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Though currently residing in Winston-Salem, NC, she was born and raised in Rochester, Pennsylvania where she began dance training at age three. Her high school education from the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School in Midland, PA provided further technical instruction and numerous performance opportunities.  Thus far she has had the pleasure of dancing and presenting various works choreographed by Merce Cunningham, Jose Limon, Shen Wei Dance Arts, Lucinda Childs, Helen Simoneau, Brenda Daniels, Ming-Lung Yang, Anna Sperber and Sean Sullivan.
